Hey everyone! I’m diving into creating a Blood Angels Firstborn list, focusing on the 7th edition, but I’m a bit stuck. I got into the hobby last year (late 2022), and my collection is pretty small so far. Right now, I’ve got a captain with a combi grav gun, a librarian, the Space Hulk 4e terminators, and a chaplain.
I might be able to grab some tactical marines, vanguard veterans (thinking of mixing them to have jump pack assault marines and stern guard), and a devastator squad. Plus, I’ve got an old fine cast techmarine with four servitors. If luck’s on my side, I could even find a dreadnought!
With so many marine kits out there, it feels a little overwhelming. Do you think I can build a good list with what I’ve got? What else should I look to add? I’m aiming for some casual games with this.

Honestly, it’s going to be tough. A lot of Firstborn kits are getting phased out, so unless you’re into Horus Heresy, the options in 40k are limited. I suggest scouring eBay or looking for old kits through swaps, but just a heads up—you won’t have the same flexibility as with other factions.
You should definitely consider incorporating some tanks like the Rhino chassis options! Predators, Vindicators, and Whirlwinds are classic picks for Firstborn armies, and they shouldn’t be too hard to find since they’re still in circulation. Land Speeders are another fun option to think about!
Thanks for the advice! I’ll check those out.
Got it! I noticed HH has some overlap with the classic models. How do they scale with tactical marines, though?
