I know you can burn zombies to stop them coming back but its hard to keep enough resources for this and i dont wanna waste space carrying the fuel around all the time. Ive gotten a few kills that have exploded the xombies head and ive seen people suggest doing this to stop the crimson heads coming back. What is the trick to this? I get some perfect headshots and it doesnt blow their heads off

Using a critical hit with the shotgun or the magnum is the best way. Aim for the head when theyre close enough. Its not always consistent, but the closer, the better.
To make sure you get a headshot, use the shotgun at close range when aiming upwards. Timing and distance are key. If youre too far, it wont work.
Headshots are kinda random, but aiming with the shotgun at an upward angle when close to zombies works best. Just keep practicing the angle and distance. If you are trying to do it with the regular pistol, chances are it isnt going to happen very often. Even though the bullet is hitting them perfectly in the head, its a random chance if it blows the head off, its not always something you are doing right or wrong. The odds of the pistol blowing a head off is super low.
