I’m gearing up for some upcoming trips, including a long flight to Japan, and I want to make sure I can play my Steam Deck while on the plane. My issue is that on past flights, I’ve only had access to USB ports for charging, but it seems like they don’t provide enough power because the battery keeps draining even when I’m plugged in. I’m starting to think the cable might be the problem, but I’m not really sure. Any recommendations on a reliable cable that can charge the Steam Deck while I’m gaming during the flight?

If you’re flying with Southwest, they have some of the newer planes equipped with USB-C ports that can deliver up to 60W. That should definitely be enough to charge your Steam Deck. Just make sure you’re using a quality cable that can handle that power. On my last flight, I kept my Deck at 100% with a proper cable!
Honestly, it might not be the cable at all. Most planes limit the power output on their USB ports, which is usually around 15W at best. To keep your Steam Deck charged while you’re playing, you’ll need a source that can output at least 45W. If you really want to troubleshoot, you could try using an Anker cable since I’ve had good luck with their products.
That’s great to know! I’ll definitely check if my flight is on one of those planes. Thanks!
