Hey folks! I just embarked on a fresh adventure in Fallout 76 with a brand new character, and I’m eager to make this one even better than my first. I want to really optimize my perk cards and legendary perks this time around. I’m open to various playstyles, and I’m looking for some solid advice on a few key points:
– What builds have worked well for you in the endgame or when playing solo?
– Which legendary perks should I prioritize early on to support my build?
– Any general tips for leveling or optimizing my new character as I progress?
I’m not locked into any specific weapon or armor yet, so I’m pretty flexible. Ultimately, I just want my character to feel powerful, efficient, and enjoyable as I journey through the game.

I’d focus on a Commando build with a pistol as a sidearm. VATS builds can really shine here—early on, work on your pistols and once you find a handmade rifle plan, the commando perks will be super effective. Just remember to stay away from heavy guns at the start due to ammo costs. You can farm ammo easily in daily ops for your commando weapons later.
If you’re looking for a solid build, I highly recommend going for a bloodied build with an auto rifle. It can really dish out the damage when you’re low on health, and it’s super fun!
Grab a buddy and tackle the main quest in co-op. You can start at level 1 and have a blast together! Eventually, you’ll want to do the Excavator quest. From there, aim for the Excavator Power Armor as your go-to—it’s great for leveling. When it comes to legendary perks, look for ones that lighten your load, especially the ones that reduce carry weight. In terms of weapons, check out the Hand Cranked Gatling Gun; it’s versatile and can run with two-shot or explosive options! Balance your perks between damage and quality of life.
Ohhhh, your journey is just starting. Just dive in and have some fun! The world of Fallout is full of surprises!
It really depends on your playstyle. Some folks are all about auto rifles, others swear by shotguns or heavy weapons. A good approach is to pick a weapon type that you want to focus on and optimize your perks around that. Don’t stress too much about the legendary perks at first; you can always switch things up later as you level up.
This is definitely the way to go if you like taking risks!
