I’m planning to switch from playing WoW Legends on console to playing World of Warships on my PC, preferably on a large screen TV. I want to know what your setup looks like: do you use a desktop connected to a big TV, or a laptop with the image mirrored to the TV? Also, do you prefer playing with a controller or keyboard/mouse? If you use a controller, which one do you recommend? I currently have an Asus Nitro gaming laptop that’s pretty powerful, but I’m wondering if switching to a desktop is worth it for this game. Any advice or personal experiences would be awesome!

World of Warships on PC actually doesn’t support controllers natively, so if you’re thinking about using one, it might not work out too well. The game requires a lot of precise inputs and keyboard/mouse control really shines for that. Plus, PC games generally don’t have the kind of aim assist you get on consoles, so controllers can feel clunky here. Your Asus Nitro laptop should handle the game fine, but be aware it might get pretty hot during long sessions, especially on max settings and a bigger TV where the resolution is higher. If the heat or performance bothers you, then a desktop with better cooling might be a good upgrade.
If you want a compact desktop option that can handle WoWS well on a big TV, something like the Minisforum Neptune Hx99g is a solid choice. I play WoWS on my 50 inch TV with that setup, using a lap desk with a smaller keyboard and a wireless mouse. It’s comfortable and gets the job done without overheating. If you do want to try using a controller, the K01 can help map controls, but it’s definitely not the main way to play this game. Also, heads up on posture — playing sitting in awkward positions on a lap desk might strain your shoulders over time, so be mindful of ergonomics!
Honestly, from someone who’s made the jump, WoWS PC is way more polished and fun than the console version. You’re better off learning the controls with keyboard and mouse because the game’s design suits them much better. That said, if mirroring your laptop to a TV is your plan, just make sure your laptop can handle the resolution and graphics settings without overheating or lagging. Otherwise, a desktop build down the line would improve performance and comfort.
If you’re aiming to play on a large TV, using a wireless keyboard and mouse combo is probably your best bet. You can set up a little desk or lap desk near the TV and still get comfortable. There are also programs that let you map controllers for WoWS, but honestly the experience tends to be pretty clunky. I’d say stick to keyboard and mouse for better accuracy and gameplay. And totally agree, your Asus Nitro is a solid machine for this — no need to rush to a desktop right away unless you want better cooling and more upgrade options.
Good tip on the wireless keyboard and mouse. I have a wireless keyboard already, so that will make setup easier. Thanks!
Thanks, that helps a lot! I think I’ll start with the laptop and see how it handles. Maybe invest in a desktop if the heat gets unbearable.
