Hey everyone! I just picked up this game on my Steam Deck and I’m really excited to dive into the PvP content. However, I’m experiencing an average ping of about 300ms while playing on the NA server. I started out with a Nightblade character but I’m only level 4 right now. Given my high ping, I’m wondering if I’ll be able to perform well in PvP, especially with a melee class like the Rogue. Are there any other classes or playstyles that would suit me better? I figured that ranged classes might be tougher because they require precise aiming, unless perhaps the aim assist on the Steam Deck helps out? Would love any tips you guys have! Thanks a lot! :)

Honestly, with that level of ping, you’ll face some challenges no matter what class you go with. I recommend sticking to something more tanky, like a Dragonknight or a Magicka Sorcerer. Those classes can help you maintain a bit of distance while dealing decent damage, which might be easier with your ping situation.
If you’re interested in a Nightblade build, you might want to try a one bar setup for ganking. Using the Nightmother’s and War Maiden sets, and going all-in on Magicka should work well. Just remember, with your ping, you might hit hard but also get hit hard, so play smart!
Don’t let that ping scare you! I’m an Aussie too and manage to hold my own. Ranged skills or area-of-effect abilities tend to work better with high ping since you don’t have to aim as precisely. I’ve had success with a melee Nightblade, but timing my skills can be tricky. So, focus on DOT builds to keep pressure on your enemies.
