Hey everyone! I’m sharing my PS5 with my older brother, but he’s hogging a massive chunk of the storage with games like Call of Duty and FIFA, which together take up over 250GB. Since he has a job and refuses to get his own external storage, I’m thinking about picking one up for myself. I’m looking for a budget-friendly USB storage option, preferably at least 500GB. Any suggestions?

You could also consider just stopping the sharing altogether! If it’s too much hassle, delete some games to free up space, but remember, an SSD is what you really need for PS5 games. A 1TB SSD is around 50 bucks on Amazon!
Just a heads up, you can only run PS4 games from a USB drive. If you want to play PS5 games, you need an NVMe SSD. Aim for Gen 4 x4 with a read speed of at least 5500 MB/s to ensure good performance.
You should know that you can’t play PS5 games off a USB; you’ll need to get an internal storage solution. Those usually range from about £50 to £100 for 500GB to 1TB. Honestly, 500GB might not be enough since your brother’s games will pile up again quickly!
If it’s really your PS5, you could just put in some rules—like your brother needs to buy his own storage or he can’t play on your console anymore. A simple password could help manage that too!
What you really need is an NVMe M.2 SSD with a heat sink to play your PS5 titles directly. A 2TB drive is a great investment, and maybe your brother could chip in or just get his own console. I’ve got the Western Digital SN850X, and it works flawlessly.
