I’m thinking about switching the OS on my gaming rig from Windows 11 to a Linux distribution and I’m specifically interested in one that plays nicely with Steam and Battlestate games like Escape From Tarkov. Which distros do you guys recommend and why? Any advice would be really helpful!

Escape From Tarkov might give you some headaches on Linux, especially if you’re trying to play on live servers due to anti-cheat systems. However, if you’re into single-player stuff, the game runs great with SPT! Just keep in mind the limitations with online play.
Make sure to research the games you want to play! Blockbusters like League of Legends won’t work due to anti-cheat issues. It’s worth a try and if it doesn’t work, you can easily switch back to Windows!
When it comes to gaming on Linux, you might have to test a few distros to find the one that fits your hardware best. It’s pretty common to ‘distro-hop’ until you find the perfect match. A lot of users have had success with Arch Linux, especially since it allows for lots of customization. Also, check out this article on gaming-optimized distros; it lists several that are ready to go right out of the box!
Yeah, I heard Arch is great, but it can be tough for beginners. Maybe start with something user-friendly like Pop!_OS before diving into Arch.
Good to know! I might focus on single-player games then if I switch to Linux.
