I’m thinking about switching my laptop to Linux and a friend suggested I try out Manjaro GNOME. However, I’m hitting some major roadblocks with the EA App crashing a few minutes after launching, even though I’ve tried using Litrus. I know the EA App has a history of not playing nice with Linux, but I’ve seen some videos where it seems to work fine. Since I’m not very tech-savvy and help for Manjaro is hard to find, I’m open to trying a different distro. Any recommendations for a Linux distro that might help the EA App run better?

Check out Bazzite! I’ve been using it, and it’s super user-friendly even for someone who isn’t tech-savvy. It’s Fedora-based and has an atomic model, which makes it easy for daily use. Definitely worth watching a few tutorials on it before you dive in!
Honestly, the EA App can be a bit of a mess on any Linux distro. I’ve had my share of problems with it on Fedora, SteamOS, and Void—mostly when it comes to chat and multiplayer services. I had to give up on playing A Way Out and barely finished It Takes Two because of the connection issues.
I’m currently using KDE Neon and the EA App works pretty well for me, aside from some pesky issues with updates and chat. You’ll need to manually move files from EA Staging to EA Desktop for updates, and the chat function doesn’t work which is a known problem. Other than that, I haven’t had crashes running the EA App through Steam!
I haven’t tried running it under Steam yet. I went back to Manjaro, tried to install the EA App under Steam, but still got crashes. Thinking I’ll download KDE Neon next. If it still crashes, it might be something funky with my hardware.
I tried Bazzite too! It took a couple of tries to install, but I found the EA App runs a bit more stable now—crashes happen less often. Just trying to get my games downloaded and hoping for the best, but I might go back to Manjaro since I was getting the hang of it.
