Hey everyone! I’m building my first PC and I’m excited to try out Linux, particularly for gaming on Steam. I’m also planning to do some web browsing and watch movies. Can anyone recommend the best Linux distro for this purpose? Here are my specs for reference: Ryzen 7800X3D, 32GB RAM, and an RX 9070 XT. Thanks a lot!

Definitely check out Bazzite! It’s designed for gaming right out of the box, so you won’t have to hassle with extra setup. It’s based on Fedora, which means it has solid support for AMD GPUs like yours. Plus, it even has a ‘Game Mode’ UI for a more streamlined experience. If you want something user-friendly and optimized for gaming, Bazzite is a great choice!
Sounds awesome! Does it have good support for other games outside of Steam?
I recommend Nobara too! It’s built for gaming and has everything pre-installed that you need. I’ve been using it, and it’s been a smooth experience for gaming and media stuff. It’s based on Fedora, so you’ll have a solid experience with your hardware.
Nobara sounds interesting! Do you think it supports the RX 9070 XT well?
Yeah, I’ve heard it does well with newer AMD cards!
If you’re looking for a beginner-friendly option, Linux Mint is a solid choice as well. It’s easy to install and user-friendly, perfect if you’re just getting started. Plus, it should handle gaming fine with your specs. Just ensure you get the newer drivers for the RX 9070 XT!
I switched to Mint myself and found it pretty straightforward for gaming.
Sounds like it could be a great fit. Thanks for the advice!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into Bazzite!
