Hey everyone! I’m looking for some advice on the best console for old Sonic games because my 4-year-old is obsessed with Sonic right now. I picked up a Sonic game for Xbox One, but when I tried using my old Xbox, it didn’t turn on (figures!). I’m considering getting a refurbished Xbox One since they’re around $120 at GameStop, but I’m also curious about retro consoles that might have Sonic games preloaded. I think it could be a fun way to share some of my childhood with him! I was born in 1991 and have played almost every console out there.
I’ve seen tons of retro consoles available, but I’m hesitant since their quality seems really variable and reviews are mixed. I’d love any recommendations. I’m okay with getting a used Xbox to relive my Halo days, but finding a reliable retro console that has Sonic is definitely a priority for me. Thanks a bunch!

If you’re mainly looking to play Sonic and not setting up an elaborate retro collection, I’d suggest checking out Sonic Origins. It’s available on all major platforms and covers a lot of the classic Sonic games, making it super easy to get started!
I agree! The Sonic collections are a breeze compared to hunting down retro setups, especially if Sonic is the main focus.
