Hello everyone! I realize this topic might have been discussed a lot, particularly when it comes to which game is more suitable for casual players. But I want to hear your thoughts considering a few personal preferences.
Diablo 2 has always been my beloved game. But having two kids now means my gaming time is quite limited, so many people suggest trying out Diablo 4 as it’s seen as more casual-friendly.
On the flip side, there’s plenty about Path of Exile 2 that catches my interest, especially the heavy emphasis on trading which I loved in Diablo 2, plus it has that classic feel. However, I’ve heard its endgame might not be too welcoming for casual gamers.
Diablo 4 for sure feels more casual but seems to lack some vital features for me like trade emphasis and that ‘Diablo vibe’ POE2 delivers.
Considering my situation, which game would you recommend?

Diablo 4 seems to be geared more toward casual play, but it might feel a bit lacking for someone who appreciates the complexity of Diablo 2. The game is streamlined, and many players feel there aren’t enough build options to keep things interesting. Path of Exile 2, on the other hand, offers a very deep and content-rich experience, though it can be a bit daunting at first. If you’re comfortable with following a pre-made build guide, PoE2 can definitely provide a more engaging challenge that’s reminiscent of D2.
Personally, I’d lean towards PoE2. Even as an early access game, it has a more comprehensive feel and comes at a significantly lower cost. The concerns about it not suiting casual players primarily arise from the endgame, but you can progress smoothly through the campaign, playing around with builds until you choose one to guide you for the later stages. Enjoy the journey at your own pace—there’s no rush.
