I’ve been playing a lot of games lately and got a new headset that works great with Dolby Atmos, but I’ve noticed some serious audio problems while playing Helldivers. When I enable Dolby Atmos, the sound becomes really distorted and feels like I’m in a tin can—it’s just awful! The audio is totally fine when I turn it off, but I hate having to switch it off and on manually, especially since I often forget to turn it back on for other games. Has anyone else experienced this with Dolby Atmos on PC, specifically on Windows 11? I’d love to know if there’s a fix for this or a way to prevent Helldivers from using Spatial Audio without me having to tweak settings all the time!

You don’t actually need special Dolby Atmos speakers to use the spatial sound feature. It’s meant to enhance the audio with software, and in theory, it should make the game sound better. It’s weird that you’re having issues just with Helldivers, though. Most other games, like Fallout 76, work great with Dolby Atmos. Maybe try experimenting with audio settings specifically for Helldivers or check for updates on the game itself!
I think I remember seeing something about audio issues with Helldivers on their known issues list during the last patch. It mainly mentioned problems on the PS5, but it could help to check back there for any updates regarding PC too. They might acknowledge it in upcoming patches. Good luck!
Yeah, I’ve looked there too, and it seems like most mentions are about PS5. But definitely check again, maybe they have noted something for PC users since then!
Yeah, I’ve got the EPOS 38X too, and it does sound much better with Dolby Atmos. I really think it’s isolated to Helldivers since I haven’t encountered those kinds of audio problems elsewhere.
