I recently built a new rig and moved my Asus ROG Strix 3090 over from my old setup. Everything is functioning well, but the GPU fans are cranking up to 100% even while I’m just idling, and the temperatures are low. I’ve verified that the GPU switch is set to Q-Mode instead of P-Mode, so I’m not sure what’s causing this. Here’s a quick rundown of my hardware:
– Motherboard: X870E Aorus Elite
– CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
– Power Supply: Corsair HX1200I
– GPU: 3090 Asus ROG Strix
– RAM: DDR5 Corsair Vengeance (6000mhz)
– CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE Link RX LCD 360mm
– Case Fans: x10 Corsair LX120
I’ve confirmed that the noise isn’t coming from my case fans since I can set them to 0 rpm, but I can’t find a way to tweak the GPU fan speeds. I’ve tried downloading MSI Afterburner, Tweak 3, and FanControl without any luck. I even reflashed the VGA BIOS to the latest version on the Asus site, but the issue remains. Any tips on how to quiet these fans would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried adjusting the fan curve settings in your GPU software? Sometimes it can help to set a more gradual curve to keep the fans from spiking all the way to 100% right away. If the software isn’t taking effect, though, it might be a deeper issue with how the fan control is set up on the card itself.
Unfortunately, changing the fan curve hasn’t worked for me either. I’ve attempted it with Afterburner, GPU Tweak 3, and even EVGA Precision X, but none have affected fan speed.
