I’ve just started playing the Pixel Remaster of Final Fantasy I and a few hours in, I’m feeling like my White Mage isn’t delivering much value. I’m starting to wonder if I should have picked a Red Mage or another class instead. Do White Mages become more useful as I progress in the game, or am I better off switching classes?

White Mages are definitely worth it! I mean, I once beat the game with four of them, and it was a wild ride! Sure, it’s a challenge, but it shows how powerful they can be with the right strategy. Just keep that healing coming, and you’ll breeze through!
Honestly, the Red Mage might look appealing because they can do a bit of everything, but having a dedicated White Mage makes the game way smoother. They do great damage against undead and have healing that really helps, especially in tougher fights. I wouldn’t trade mine for a Red Mage any day!
White Mages are super useful throughout the game! Early on, you may not notice it that much, but they really shine in the later stages, especially against undead enemies with those powerful dia spells. It’s less about raw damage and more about keeping your party alive, which is essential! Trust me, you’ll appreciate having one later on.
For my latest run, I paired two Fighters with a Black Mage and a White Mage, and it felt pretty solid! The White Mage was lifesaver for healing and keeping the group alive. You might find it fun to experiment with party setups as you keep playing!
I used to think the White Mage was just okay, but after a recent playthrough, I’m sold! It’s all about that healing support—view it as your party’s safety net. Plus, don’t forget they get access to some killer spells later. Just think of them as a crucial part of a balanced team!
