I’m not super eager for a new game since we have six of them already, but I heard the series got canceled due to the Olympics shifting towards NFT gaming. Given that NFTs are mostly failing, I’m curious if we’ll see Mario & Sonic make a comeback. If the Olympic Games’ NFT plans fall through, wouldn’t there be a chance for this series to move forward again?

I think it’s going to be a long wait before anything is confirmed. They haven’t released a winter Olympics game since 2014, so if you’re hoping for something soon, don’t hold your breath. We might not hear anything about Sega getting the license until around 2027 or 2028 for the next summer Olympics.
Right? NFTs were a total flop. No need to keep saying that over and over, though! 😆
After how the last Olympics went, I’m actually relieved they paused the series. I really don’t want that kind of weirdness creeping into Mario and Sonic.
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if the Mario and Sonic Olympics games faded away. It could open the door for an epic crossover, which we’ve been denied in the past because Sega and Nintendo were worried about not “cross contaminating” the Olympics series. I’d gladly trade all those Olympic games for just one solid platformer crossover.
Yeah, I heard they tried to pitch crossovers before but got shut down. It’s a bummer!
