I’ve been looking to jazz up my Steam Deck OLED but have a hard time finding a silicone case. My options have boiled down to Vinyl skins, but I’m hesitant because I’ve never applied one before and worried I might mess it up. They’re so pretty though, and I’m tempted! So, I’d love to hear about your experiences and if Vinyl skins are actually worth it. Help me decide! 😅

I got this rad texture from dbrand that looks and feels pretty cool. It’s got this swarm texture, so when the light hits it, the hexagons seem to shimmer like some kind of dragon scales. Totally digs up the whole vibe of my device. But keep in mind shipping might take a while if you’re in Europe like me.
Honestly, if you’re careful with your Steam Deck, you might not need one of those skins at all. My screen still looks untouched since release, and I haven’t used any skin or case. So if you’re not too worried about scratches, you can totally skip it. Vinyl skins are mostly about the look.
If style is your thing, Vinyl skins can massively up your Steam Deck’s game with cool designs and colors. They help protect against scratches, which might bring peace of mind. Plus, they’re not bulky, so you keep the slick look of your device. But yeah, that’s about it – they’re not as protective as a case.
I slapped a Vinyl skin on my daughter’s Steam Deck, and it wasn’t as hard as I expected. I hadn’t done it before either but came out smooth. If you’re still hunting a case, you might like the Skull & Co. GripCase. It’s comfy and even has a built-in stand. Found it on Amazon, and it does a decent job for the price.
Sounds cool, but do any of these cover the entire device? I’d prefer full coverage, not just the back.
True, they’re mostly about aesthetics, but sometimes having your gear look good makes you feel good too, you know?
