I’m looking for games where you play as a soldier on foot who has to battle against mechs or giant robotic enemies. Something along the lines of MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries, but instead of piloting a mech yourself, you’re the infantry fighting these huge machines. Any suggestions?

Not exactly mechs, but Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel have you battling huge robotic beasts on foot. The scale and design of the enemies are amazing, and it feels pretty intense being a human fighting these massive robots with just your gear and wits.
You might want to check out Binary Domain. It’s not exactly a classic mech game, but you do fight against robotic enemies, and you’re mostly on foot. It’s got some cool sci-fi vibes and mech combat elements mixed in.
Titanfall 2 is probably your best bet. You actually get to play parts of the game as a foot soldier and other times inside a mech. The cool part is that as infantry, you have weapons designed to take on those giant mechs, so you’re not just helplessly running around. It really nails the feeling of being a pilot one moment and a grunt the next.
If you want something a bit more chaotic and arcade-style, Helldivers 2 has you dropping in on missions where you as infantry face off against robot enemies called automatons. The high difficulty missions especially make the mechanized opponents feel pretty threatening.
Another game that comes to mind is Shogo: Mobile Armor Division. It’s a bit dated, but you do go on missions both on foot and piloting mechs. You’ll face opponents who are infantry or mech, so it mixes things up nicely.
