I’m really into games where you can see tangible progress, like when you go from a basic ship to a massive spaceship and get to explore everything inside. I’m tired of the usual suspects like Star Citizen—it’s not great and runs poorly. I’ve checked out other games like Space Engineers, but it looks too complicated for my taste. I’ve even used TrailMakers and Minecraft to build my own spaceships just to get that exploration vibe! Is there a game out there that offers this kind of experience without being a total slog?

If you’re looking for visuals and big ships, Starfield is your game! You can build everything from small shuttles to giant space mansions. It’s perfect for exploration, with loads of ships to collect and massive dreadnoughts where you can set up bases. It’s a good mix of building and exploring!
You might want to check out Elite Dangerous. It’s pretty mouse and keyboard-friendly, and even better with a joystick. They’ve got on-foot and rover exploration too, but it had some performance issues a while back. It’s all about preparing your ship for different journeys and managing resources. Plus, you can unlock engineering and progress your rank, so there’s definitely a satisfying ‘number go up’ feel. And hey, there’s an alien invasion going on!
I enjoyed Starfield too! Any updates on whether you can further customize your ship’s layout? I remember having limitations at launch.
