I’m looking for video games that feature a concept where the player can gain powers from a parasite or alien creature, like a crab-like being that attaches to the player. The idea is that while the creature grants the player special abilities, it also drains their energy unless they either detach it or constantly feed it certain items. I find this gameplay mechanic fascinating and would love to know if such games exist, especially for platforms like PS5, Xbox, 3DS, and PC. Any recommendations?

Another game to consider is SOMA, although it’s not exactly about parasitic powers. The themes are deeply connected to the body and identity, but it may not have the exact mechanic you’re looking for. Still, definitely worth a play!
If you like action and lore, check out the STALKER series. It’s not technically about a living parasite, but the Artifacts you find give you unique abilities, and the gameplay is engaging!
Baldur’s Gate 3 seems like a good match for what you’re describing. The game introduces a Mind-Flayer tadpole that acts like a parasite by implanting itself in your brain, giving you various powers but also presenting some drawbacks depending on how you use it. It’s not the main focus of the game, but it’s definitely a significant plot point!
That sounds interesting! I’ll check it out.
