I’m curious if there are still options to grab some game expansions for free. I remember they used to give away CD keys sometimes, like the recent one on MMORPG.com. For those of us from countries with weaker currencies, buying all the expansions can really add up, especially with all the Living Story content on top. Unfortunately, I can’t access my Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire accounts since I forgot my details, and I really don’t want to shell out cash for them again.

Buying from places like CD Keys isn’t advisable since they’re not approved sellers. Stick to the official channels to avoid any issues. You can find the official market at buy.guildwars2.com and check the list of approved retailers to stay safe!
Honestly, if you’re serious about getting the expansions, you’ll have to pay up. Unless you arrange a trade like crafting something legendary in exchange for someone buying an expansion for you. That’s a win-win.
You can often get the first expansion for free when you buy the second one, which isn’t a bad way to go if you’re looking to save a little cash.
You could try farming gold in-game, then convert it into gems to purchase expansions eventually. It takes a while, but it’s a way to not spend real money.
But you can’t buy the expansions with gems; gems are only for Living World content, right? Plus, I think I’m still in free-to-play mode, so I can’t even convert gold yet.
Sounds like you might want to get some playing time in before worrying about those expansions!
They usually don’t give away expansions; maybe you’ll find a free item now and then. Occasionally, they release a Living Story chapter for free. The best deal is getting a large bundle that includes expansions and some Living Story content, but if you’ve already got some, it can feel like a rip-off since you have to buy extras.
I’ve used CD Keys for other games and had no issues, but for GW2 expansions, I wouldn’t risk it. The discounts aren’t worth it for me.
