Hey everyone! I recently finished playing AC Mirage and I found myself thinking a lot about Basim and his connection to Loki. In Valhalla, he’s portrayed as Loki’s reincarnation, which made me wonder: Is he really considered a Nordic god, or is he just an Isu presented as Loki for the game’s storyline? In AC Odyssey, the Isu seem to be associated with Greek gods. So, are the Isu considered demigods or something along those lines? I’m a bit lost, but I get the feeling that the Isu aren’t strictly from any known mythology. Can anyone clarify this for me? Also, regarding Basim, is he still human? He got those memories from his Isu ancestor, but is he fundamentally human? Thanks for your insights!

The Isu are definitely more complex than just being gods. They’re what we consider to be the First Civilization, with technology far beyond our current understanding. In your example, Basim is a Sage, which means he has high Isu DNA. He remembers his past life as Loki but is still fundamentally Basim, drawing on those memories while living his own human experience.
In short, the Isu are a precursor race that influenced many of the gods we think of today. So while Basim is tied to Loki, he’s part of a vast, interconnected mythology where the Isu played a role in creating those legends. And no, he’s still human despite the Isu memories he possesses.
The Isu were actually an advanced civilization that predates humanity, and after their extinction, humans interpreted their advanced technology as divine. So, while the Isu inspired various mythologies, they aren’t technically gods or demigods. They’re more like the original “gods” that different cultures turned into legends based on their memories of these beings.
Yeah, the Isu are essentially just Isu. Different societies viewed them through their cultural lenses, which is why we see them represented as gods in various mythologies. Basim is really just Basim, but he carries the memories of Loki. It’s more about how the characters interpret their experiences rather than him actually being a Nordic god.
Exactly! When Eivor experiences visions as Odin, it’s her mind interpreting the events through the mythological stories she grew up with. So, all those Norse gods we know—Thor, Loki—are essentially just ancient Isu in human stories.
You hit the nail on the head! The Isu are seen as gods because of their advanced technology, but they are not divine. They created humans and left behind what we now view as divine legends. Basim, as a Sage, carries his human identity while also channeling Loki’s memories, making him incredibly unique.
It’s interesting how the series uses different cultural interpretations of the Isu. All those myths we know are likely just distorted memories passed down through generations. And you’re right, Basim is indeed a mix of human and Isu but retains his identity.
