I just came across the Master Chief Collection on sale for Steam and I’m curious about the Halo series. I never really played the games back in the day, even though I know they were a big deal on the Xbox 360. Do the Halo games still hold up today? Would you say they are must-plays for new players?

The original trilogy is a huge part of gaming history. Back in the day, Halo was basically synonymous with gaming for a good chunk of time. Even if some of the graphics haven’t aged perfectly, the stories and gameplay are still so fun. Plus, you can toggle between classic and enhanced graphics in the MCC, which is a nice touch!
For sure! Playing through the campaigns with friends is a blast. There’s nothing quite like bonding over the chaos that is Halo multiplayer. Plus, you’ll be introduced to some iconic characters and stories. If you’re up for some co-op fun, just do it!
Exactly! I bought the MCC for my buddies this Christmas and we had an absolute blast!
Yeah, I think the first three games are considered must-plays by many fans. The gameplay and storytelling are solid but keep in mind, if you didn’t grow up with the original Xbox, some mechanics might feel a bit outdated now. Still, they’re loads of fun!
I played them for the first time and while some parts felt clunky, I still enjoyed them for their history!
Absolutely! The Bungie-era Halo games are considered classics for a reason. They really brought FPS games to the forefront, especially on consoles, and the Master Chief Collection has some enhanced versions that make them feel more modern while keeping the core experience intact. Definitely give them a shot!
Couldn’t agree more! Halo 1-3 and Reach are masterpieces!
The Halo series shaped modern shooters, and while opinions on later titles might differ, the first three and Reach are definitely recommended. If you’re a fan of sci-fi shooters, this is a joyride! Just consider grabbing the MCC while it’s cheap—it’s worth it.
I just wrapped up the collection and it was an incredible experience. Definitely the classics!
Right? I feel like every gamer should experience the impact Halo had on FPS!
