I’ve been curious about whether Hoyo is still banning players who run Genshin Impact on the Steam Deck using Proton. I don’t use any hacks, third-party apps, or auto-clickers, so I’m wondering if I should be concerned about getting banned for this setup.

Were there ever bans? I played for a year and a half on my Steam Deck without any trouble. Just keep it clean and stick with the official setup!
Genshin and ZZZ run fine through the official launcher on SteamOS, but with Honkai Star Rail, it’s trickier. Avoid using third-party launchers, or better yet, you might want to install Windows for a smoother experience if you’re set on playing Honkai.
As far as I know, it seems like no one is getting banned anymore. I’ve been playing Genshin on my Steam Deck without issues. Just a heads up, though: always be cautious!
There was a ban wave when Star Rail first came out after they introduced an ACE bypass, but it wasn’t clear if that was specifically targeting Linux users. Since then, they’ve switched to a different anti-cheat that’s easier to bypass on Linux, and there haven’t been any recent bans. Just keep in mind that they do track what OS you’re playing on!
