I’ve been noticing a lot of discussions around problems with the PS5 lately, and it got me thinking—are there really more issues with the PS5 compared to the PS4? I’ve personally never had any issues with my PS4, so I’m curious if anyone else feels the same way about the two consoles’ reliability.

You’re probably just hearing about PS5 issues more because it’s the latest console. When something goes wrong, people usually rush online to complain. Let’s not forget that PS4 had its fair share of problems too, like a lot of folks had issues before the PS5 even came out.
I don’t think it’s that there are more issues overall with the PS5. Most complaints you’re seeing are probably about overheating problems, which often stem from people not cleaning their consoles regularly. Both the PS4 and PS5 can have similar issues like HDMI errors and disc drive failures. I really don’t see a huge difference if they’re both maintained properly.
It’s just that the PS5 is the hot topic right now. You’ll hear about it more than past consoles like the PS4. Remember the complaints about the PS4 having jet engine noise and stick drift? Those were pretty common before the PS5 launched.
I haven’t faced any problems with my PS5 or even my Pro. I keep mine well-ventilated in a clean spot, and I hardly ever move it. I think a lot of issues come from people mishandling their consoles, especially with HDMI ports getting damaged. In over 20 years of gaming, I haven’t had one console fail on me yet.
Same here! I’ve been lucky too; I just don’t get why some people have so many issues.

But not everyone is going to clean their console properly, no matter the model.
