I’ve been looking for my next gaming PC and noticed that in almost every ‘Is this a good deal?’ post, the answer seems to be ‘no’. Is there a bias against prebuilt PCs or are prices really bad at the moment? What should I realistically expect to pay for a setup with a Ryzen 7 9700X, Radeon 7900XTX, 32GB RAM, and a 2TB SSD? I usually prefer Corsair components for most parts. Would love to get some insight!

You’ve hit the nail on the head! The GPU prices lately have been crazy, and it might be wise to wait for the new 9070XT to drop, which should save you about $200-300 while still giving you solid performance and better ray tracing. Just keep an eye on those prices!
I get what you’re saying about PC prices being steep. A lot of products out there really aren’t worth it, and many folks just chase after the top-tier components. If you’re aiming for performance without overpaying, snagging a 7800X3D could be a good plan, but it’ll run you about $1200 to $1500. Remember, though, your budget should ideally sit between $2500 – $2750 for a build like yours.
Good point! Just to clarify, the 9700X is indeed what OP is asking about. They’re looking to maybe hold off for the 9070XT too, so managing that budget is key.
Honestly, it feels like most of the current builds aren’t great deals these days. New components are hitting the market, and the prices are inflated. That said, prebuilts often attract more scrutiny because people can just research individual parts to find better deals. You might want to shop around for the best component prices rather than trusting that every prebuilt is a poor choice.
Exactly! I was curious if the negative vibes towards prebuilts reflected actual pricing issues or just bias. It’s good to hear others are feeling the same.
Totally agree! I’ve also been keeping track of the new cards and the pricing looks way better. Definitely a smart move to wait.
