I just upgraded from an Intel Core i5-8400 to an AMD Ryzen 7 7700x and I’ve noticed my temperatures are pretty high compared to my old setup. Typically, my i5 ran between 50°C and 70°C (122°F to 158°F), but now my Ryzen is showing some higher numbers and I’m worried about thermal throttling. I’ve tested a few games at max settings (except for motion blur) and 3440×1440 resolution with DLSS on when available. Here’s what I found: 74°C (172°F) in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, 76°C (168°F) in RoboCop Rogue City, 64°C to 74°C (147°F to 165°F) in Minecraft with shaders, and 76°C to 79°C (168°F to 174°F) in Cyberpunk 2077. Additionally, RDR2 ranged from 75°C to 78°C (167°F to 172°F). Are these temperatures considered safe for my Ryzen 7 7700x?

Ryzens normally run hot, and they are designed to boost until they hit around 95°C. So, don’t stress too much, those temperatures are pretty much expected! Your CPU is doing just fine as long as you’re not hitting those critical limits.
Yeah, those temps sound pretty normal for the Ryzen 7 7700x. Can you share your cooling setup? It might help diagnose whether you can optimize things a bit more.
Sure! I have a Corsair Crystal 570 case with a NZXT Kraken X62 cooler on top and four Corsair LL120 RGB fans. I’m using Arctic MX6 thermal paste.
Just a reminder though, 89°C is the maximum safe temp before you might start to see issues. Keep an eye on it!
