I’ve noticed that both Ghost of Tsushima and Red Dead Redemption 2 often get hailed as masterpieces, but I really don’t see them that way. Sure, they’re good games and bring some great elements to the table, but can we stop treating them like they’re perfect 10/10 titles? It’s frustrating that so many people’s top game recommendations boil down to just these two. What do you all think? Am I being too harsh, or do these games really deserve their hype?

Totally agree! While RDR2 is a fantastic storytelling experience, the gameplay sometimes feels more like an interactive movie than a game. The pacing can really kill the fun if you’re not in the mood for slow gameplay. GoT was better for me in terms of combat, but it’s still pretty standard for an open-world game.
Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from. There’s a lot of hype surrounding them that doesn’t totally align with reality. I found both games to be kind of overrated. RDR2 has great visuals and story but it’s like, how many hours can you spend riding a horse and doing the same missions over and over? For GoT, I just felt like I’d played that game a hundred times before.
Honestly, I think both games do have their flaws. GoT feels like it’s just using an Assassin’s Creed formula, and while it looks great, the gameplay can get boring. RDR2 is beautiful and has a fantastic story, but it can drags on and the controls can feel clunky at times. They’re fun, but definitely not the best ever in my book.
You said it! I mean, are they good games? Sure. But I think a lot of people are so caught up in the hype that they overlook the serious issues both titles have. I personally find other games more enjoyable, and it would be great if folks recognized that there’s a lot more out there than just these two.
I think it’s all about expectations. These games are definitely fun, but it’s like you said, people treat them as perfect, which they’re not. It’s valid to think there are better games out there with more innovative mechanics. Everyone has their taste, and that’s cool but it’s frustrating to see the same two titles on every recommendation list.
