I own a Game Boy Advance, but I’m lacking good games to play on it. I’m considering getting the original Generation 1-3 Pokémon games, but they’re tough to find at a decent price. I’ve also thought about getting the remakes like ORAS and HGSS instead. Given the prices and availability, I’m torn. Should I go for the original cartridges or just opt for the remakes since they seem more accessible?

If you’re not a die-hard collector, going for physical copies might not be worth it with how high prices are. You could take that money and grab a modded 3DS, which will give you access to a whole library of games. Plus, it saves you the hassle of hunting down overpriced cartridges!
I totally get wanting to use your GBA! If you can’t find the original carts for a reasonable price, consider getting a flashcard. It lets you play tons of great GBA games without needing to collect the originals, and you can still enjoy titles like Pokémon Emerald and others. Plus, searching for them at garage sales can sometimes yield good finds!
Honestly, if you’re looking for nostalgia, the original games are awesome! But if you’re more into mechanics and graphics, the remakes like ORAS and HGSS are way better. Also, if you’re okay with emulation, that’s an easy route to play these classics without breaking the bank.
