Hey everyone! I’ve been gaming on my Xbox for about a decade and have always relied on AA batteries for my controllers. Now that I’m playing a lot more, I’m considering switching to a charging dock to avoid the hassle of constantly buying batteries. I’m curious to know if charging docks are actually worth the investment. How long do they typically last? Are they better than just using regular batteries? Also, should I get a dock that charges the controller directly or one that charges AA rechargeable batteries? Any recommendations for charging docks you’ve tried? Thanks a ton!

If you have multiple controllers, a dock is worth it. It lets one charge while you’re using the other. If you only have one controller, though, just go for rechargeable batteries that don’t need to be in the controller while charging. I’ve had both and they both work, but it’s nice not having to put the controller down!
I’ve been using a dock from Best Buy for years, works great! The ones for Series X charge in about 10-12 hours and can last during long gaming sessions. For around $22, it’s a solid investment!
I’ve been using rechargeable batteries instead of a dock and it’s way cheaper overall. You just swap them out when needed. Simple and effective!
Great tip! How do you usually charge them? Any brands you recommend?
Charging docks can last between 2-4 years with regular use. I’ve had mine since the Xbox 360 and it’s still kicking! If you go this route, just opt for something reliable.
Eneloop rechargeable batteries are top-notch! I’ve been using them for over 20 years and never bought AA batteries again. Seriously, they are the best!
That makes sense! I think I might just stick with rechargeable batteries then!
