I’m building my first PC with some solid specs, including an RX 7800 XT, a Ryzen 7 7800X 3D, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM, plus a 2TB M.2 SSD. I chose AMD mainly because it offers more VRAM compared to the 4070 (16GB vs 12GB) and is around $120 cheaper here. I’m not too concerned about ray-tracing performance, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about AMD GPU drivers. People are warning me that choosing an AMD GPU might lead to crashes due to bad drivers. Is this a valid concern, or are those days behind us?

I’m running the RX 7800 XT, and I’ve had no driver issues whatsoever. They seem quite stable these days. I think the fears are kind of outdated. You might encounter an occasional bug, but that happens with Nvidia too. So don’t stress too much about it!
Honestly, I think going for AMD is a good call. While there have been driver issues in the past, it’s not nearly as bad now. Lots of people are reporting stable experiences, so you might never run into problems at all. Just keep everything updated, and you should be fine!
Looking at the evolution of AMD drivers, they really have improved a lot over the years. I used to have horror stories like back in the day, but now I find them to be better than Nvidia’s! It’s just some of the stereotype from die-hard fans. You’re making a solid choice with your build!
