I’ve been having a tough time with AR on my Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 while trying to play Pokémon Go. It’s frustrating because I can’t get a solid location, and when it does work, it takes forever to settle. Plus, the Pokémon seem to drift away instead of staying in place. My kid uses my old Galaxy Note 10+ and has no issues at all. Is anyone else experiencing these problems? Are there any workarounds, especially when trying to play with friends?

It sounds like you’re struggling primarily indoors. I had a similar issue until I cleaned the camera lens, but that might not help as much if your kid’s phone works flawlessly. I’d suggest checking if your game is up-to-date or reinstalling it. It’s a bit of a hassle, but sometimes it clears up weird bugs.
Have you tried reinstalling the game? I know it sounds tedious, but sometimes it resolves these kinds of issues. The drifting also often happens when the environment isn’t detected properly; this might be worse if you’re indoors on a complex surface. It should work for all Pokémon, but sometimes the size can play a role too!
You can actually disable AR in the settings. This way, you can still complete tasks without the hassles of tracking issues. It’s better for taking shots too, trust me!
I didn’t know disabling AR was an option! I used to toggle it during battles, but it seems that’s gone. Still, my problem is that even the AR experience can be pretty janky.
Yeah, cleaning the lens often helps! But I’ve noticed the game picks the worst spots too, even indoors. Maybe try sitting down and keeping your phone lower to the ground? It seems to help with the location accuracy.
