I find myself juggling a bunch of JRPGs lately without actually completing any! Right now, I’m trying to get through Persona 4 Gold, working on all the blades and chips in XC2, aiming for the platinum in Yakuza 0, and I still need to finish Fire Emblem Three Houses which I started ages ago before losing interest (I’ve also been bummed about not being able to romance a specific character as M!Byleth). Plus, I’ve barely scratched FFX after a couple of hours. And this doesn’t even count all the non-JRPGs that are also left unfinished! Is anyone else stuck in this cycle?

I’m on the opposite end— I focus on one JRPG at a time. I just finished Trails of Cold Steel II & IV, and now I’m about 10 hours into Tales of Graces F Remastered. I can’t let myself start multiple games or I won’t finish any of them! But with all these new releases coming, I might have trouble deciding which to play next.
I face a similar problem, but it’s usually right when I’m about to get the platinum trophy. I can invest like 200 hours into a game, but as soon as those last few achievements pop up, I lose interest and drop it. It’s so frustrating!
I totally get where you’re coming from! I often start a new JRPG while I’m halfway through another one, and every time I see a new release, I get so excited that I just drop the old game to try the new one. I tell myself I’ll go back once I beat the new game, but that just never happens. It’s a tough cycle!
Same here! I always convince myself that I’ll finish it later, but then I get distracted by shiny new titles. It’s almost like a gaming Bermuda Triangle!
I usually stick to one RPG at a time too, otherwise I end up not finishing anything. Right now, I’m playing DQ11 alongside some other genres like Tomb Raider and Bayonetta. Mixing it up helps me stay on track!
I know that feeling well! It’s like the closer I get to the finish line, the less motivated I become. I really have to work on that!
