Hey everyone! I’ve been watching clips of people using the trackpad for first-person shooters, and they make it look incredibly easy. Their thumbs glide smoothly over the pad, and they land all their shots without a hitch! But I’m struggling with it. I recently tried to use the trackpad combined with gyroscope and mouse settings for Doom after following a guide, but it felt really awkward for me. I found the trackpad to be super sensitive, leading to accidental presses, and my thumbs feel too large, making it tough to maneuver without going off the pad. Gyro also feels pretty tiring since I end up moving my arms too much to aim. If anyone has tips or advice, I’d really appreciate it!

Honestly, if the trackpad isn’t working for you, just grab a mouse! It’s way easier for FPS games, and you won’t have to deal with any sensitivity issues. But if you really want to give the trackpad another shot, maybe try practicing with the onscreen keyboard too. It can help build your muscle memory!
Yeah, I also found that it took some time to adjust. The trick for me was to keep fiddling with the sensitivity settings until I found what felt right. Also, I only use the trackpad for navigation menus in RTS games. If you’re mainly playing FPS, you might end up preferring analogue sticks after all, just like I do!
It definitely takes a lot of practice to get used to the trackpad. I found that after a while, my reflexes improved, and now I prefer it over thumbsticks! Still, I think nothing beats mouse and keyboard for accuracy. If you want the best experience, you might want to tinker with the settings a bit more. There are some great guides and videos out there that can help you find the sweet spot. Oh, and using the trackpad frees up your thumbstick for weapon selection, which is pretty handy!
I totally agree with you about precision! I like using gyro as well, but I’ve noticed it can get jittery, which distracts me during intense moments. I usually play single-player FPS games, and that jitteriness can really pull me out of the experience.
