I used to have a blast playing the old Yu-Gi-Oh games on GBA and PS2, as well as the Pokemon TCG on the Gameboy. I’m in search of something similar—preferably a free-to-play or low-cost option. I’m looking for games where single-player progression is key, as I’m burnt out from the PvP focus of games like MTG Arena. Got any good suggestions from reliable sources like Steam or GoG? Thanks a bunch!

If you’re looking for something that could be right up your alley, check out Balatro. It’s a fun card game experience, though it doesn’t have the deck-building aspect because it’s more of a roguelite. Might still be worth a look if you like a different kind of card game.
Though I haven’t personally tried them, there’s a series called Dual Masters, which is inspired by MTG and has both PS2 and GBA versions. Considering your love for old-school TCGs, you might want to explore that and see if it resonates with you.
I remember coming across a game called Shadowverse on the DS. It’s somewhat like the old Pokemon TCG, but definitely worth checking out for that nostalgic solo campaign vibe. Also, there’s been a fan-made Pokemon game inspired by Slay the Spire, but it’s a bit different from traditional TCGs.
