Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the Halo series and my first experience was with the Halo Infinite campaign. It’s such a blast, but now I’m worried I might have ruined my appreciation for the older games. I tried playing Halo 3, but honestly, it feels slow and a bit boring to me. Halo 2 was awesome, though I’m not really a fan of playing as the Arbiter. I love ODST and Reach, but going through them again feels like a chore. Meanwhile, I’ve happily replayed Halo Infinite a bunch of times. Am I just broken or is it okay to like the newer stuff more?

Your taste is yours, and that’s perfectly valid! If you’re on PC, there are actually some cool mods that can help make the older games feel a bit more modern. For instance, there’s a grappling hook mod and some fun parkour mods for Halo CE that might spice things up for you!
A lot of the love for those older games comes from nostalgia and the community vibe at the time. Back in the day, everyone was into Halo just like there’s a whole Fortnite scene now. Plus, when it comes to storytelling, many believe the original trilogy just had a deeper narrative compared to Infinite, even if the gameplay feels a bit slower.
Honestly, the love for the classics often stems from nostalgia rather than objective quality. Play what you enjoy and don’t worry too much about what others think. Enjoyment is the key!
It’s totally fine to enjoy newer games more than the classics! They often come with so many quality of life improvements that change the experience. If you’re not feeling the older games, don’t stress about it too much. Maybe check out some let’s plays or walkthroughs instead! Halo 1, 2, and 3 are legends in gaming history, but if you didn’t experience them at the right time, it might be hard to connect with them now.
Nothing wrong with how you feel! I also prefer Halo Infinite. It’s an amazing game—it really hooked me right from the start. Play what you like, no need to force yourself into the older titles if they don’t resonate with you!
