I did something really dumb with my RTX 4090 graphics card. I was reading about melted connectors and suddenly became paranoid that my native 12vhpwr cable was bent too much. In my panic, I went to check it, and it wouldn’t disconnect. I freaked out, thinking it had melted, and ended up pulling on it hard without realizing I just needed to push the release tab. After calming down, I fixed the cable, and my computer boots up fine, but I can’t shake the feeling that I might have damaged the 12vhpwr port on the GPU by tugging on it. As long as the release tab didn’t break, do you all think the card is okay? This fire hazard talk has gotten into my head, and my diagnosed OCD is making it even harder for me to relax. I can’t even use my computer because I keep wanting to check if everything’s alright.

Dude, slow down; I really think it’s fine. If you’re worried about performance, maybe try undervolting your GPU or limiting your FPS to ease your anxiety. That way, you won’t be pushed to check it constantly.
Honestly, it sounds like you’re worrying a bit too much. As long as the release tab is intact, your GPU should be okay. Just take a deep breath and check the cable for any visible damage. It might help to limit how often you check your setup, maybe every few hours, so you don’t obsess over it too much.
Thanks, I appreciate that advice. I’ll try to take it easier!
Just double-check that the cable is plugged in all the way with no gaps. Give it a little wiggle to ensure it’s secure. If you want to test it out, run some intensive benchmarks to see how the temps are for peace of mind.
Thanks for the tips, I really needed that suggestion.
