I’m trying to choose between two gaming laptops: the Acer Nitro V15 with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS and an RTX 4060 GPU with 75W TGP, and the ASUS TUF A15 with an AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS and a more powerful 140W TGP RTX 4060 GPU. I’ve heard that the ASUS doesn’t have an integrated GPU but the Acer does. However, the Acer’s TGP is lower. Which one is the better choice?

If battery life is a big concern for you, the Acer Nitro V15 might be the way to go. The integrated GPU means it can switch to a more efficient mode when you’re not gaming, extending the battery life. Plus, the TUF laptops are known for their higher power consumption, which could lead to heat issues and reduce the lifespan of the GPU.
Don’t forget to consider the battery size when making your decision. The ASUS is likely going to drain the battery a lot faster than the Acer, especially with that high-wattage GPU. Plus, if as you mentioned, the ASUS packs more power, it usually comes at the expense of portability.
While the ASUS TUF may provide better raw performance due to its powerful GPU, you should keep in mind that without proper cooling, it might throttle under high load, diminishing the performance gains you expect.
Having owned both brands, I’d say the Acer Nitro is generally more reliable in terms of heat management, which is crucial if you’re planning on long gaming sessions. The ASUS does have a beefier GPU, which could mean better performance, but only if you really push it hard. The Nitro might just be the more balanced choice overall.
