Hey everyone! I’m a new fan and just jumped into the Resident Evil series. After playing the RE:1 Remake on PS4, I became obsessed! I went ahead and bought almost all the remakes and remasters from RE:2 to RE:6. However, when I checked my RE:4 box, I realized I got the 2016 PS4 remaster instead of the brand-new remake that came out in 2023. I thought about playing the original on GameCube to capture that classic experience, but I’m torn between that and trying the remaster I already bought. It’s tough for me financially to sell it for a used GameCube version and then buy the remake too. So, I’m wondering if the PS4 remaster is worth playing compared to the GameCube original and the newer remake. What do you all think? Is it better to stick with my remaster or aim for a more authentic experience with the original?

I get the nostalgia of wanting to play on GameCube, but the PS4 remaster is still an amazing experience. Plus, it might be a good idea to check out the remake afterwards to see how far the series has come. I’d say just dive in and enjoy the one you have!
Don’t sweat it! Open and play the remaster – it’s still a classic. It’s easy to get wrapped up in which is ‘better,’ but the original and the remake both have their strengths. Enjoy what you have for now!
Honestly, just play the PS4 remaster you have! It’s a solid game, and you might really enjoy it. If you decide later that you want to try the remake, you can always grab that when you can afford it. No regrets!
I feel you on that! Sometimes it’s good to experience a game on the system you have first, and then you’ll appreciate the differences with the remake later.
There’s really no wrong version of RE4. The original GameCube has its charm, but the remaster adds content that wasn’t in it. If the remaster is what you’ve got, go for it! You can always check out the original later.
Absolutely! Each version has something different to offer depending on what you enjoy, so just have fun with the remaster for now.
