Hey everyone! I’m in need of some friendly advice here. I’ve been stuck deciding between the 9070 XT Nitro+ and the 5080 for what feels like ages. I recently took the plunge and pre-ordered the 9070 XT for £749. Now I’m seeing the 5080 popping up at MSRP and even some overclocked versions for £1099. With my new 4K 240Hz OLED monitor, I’m eager to try some 4K gaming, but I’m aware neither card can compete with a 5090 in that realm – and that’s way beyond my budget! So, is it worth it to stick with the 9070 XT, or might I regret not spending a little extra on the 5080 since the price gap seems smaller now?

Stick with the Nitro; it’s a beast! You’ll be fine with most games at 4K, even if it’s not perfect. Enjoy that incredible OLED display!
If it comes down to budget and comfort, the 9070 XT is a solid pick. But if you fancy extras like Nvidia’s exclusive features, you might want to lean towards the 5080. It does depend on how deep your pockets are!
What games are you planning to play on it? The 4K resolution will put a lot of strain on your hardware, especially with a 240Hz display. If you’re heavily into fast-paced games, you’d want the best performance. But if you’re mainly playing less demanding titles like CS2 or others, the 9070 XT should serve you well and keep your budget in check.
It’s a trade-off for sure—$500 more for about 15% better performance in rasterization and 40% in ray tracing. The 9070 XT is decent but won’t fully handle 4K at high settings if that’s what you want. If ray tracing isn’t a huge deal for you, sticking with the 9070 XT might be fine; just be sure about the kinds of games you play.
I see what you mean. I haven’t tried ray tracing yet, so I’m unsure if I’d even care. It’s definitely something to think about.
Honestly, you’re likely to regret not getting the 5080 later, but you’ll also feel that pinch in your wallet after spending more. The 9070 XT is solid; you might only notice around a 10 FPS difference at 4K, which isn’t huge. If you’re into ray tracing or streaming, though, the 5080 definitely takes the edge. Just remember, with the right undervolting, the 9070 XT can even edge out the stock 5080 for pure gaming.
I’m coming from a 1070Ti and just want a smoother experience. I play a lot of Warhammer 3 and want to try higher-end titles. I could stretch for the 5080, but would it really make 4K gaming that much better?
