Water-type Pokémon are one of the 18 different types of Pokémon in the Pokémon franchise. These Pokémon are often based on water creatures such as fish, shellfish, and sea monsters. They are known for their powerful special attacks and high special defense. They also have the ability to cause status conditions like freezing, which can disrupt the opponent’s moves. They are also known for their resistance to Fire-, Water-, Ice-, and Steel-type moves, but are weak against Electric- and Grass-type moves. Water-types are super effective against Fire, Ground and Rock types, but weak against Electric and Grass types. Some well-known Water-type Pokémon include Squirtle, Gyarados and Blastoise.
