Monster Hunter Wilds is gearing up for its highly anticipated release, slated for 2025. The latest trailer for the game has brought with it a wealth of new information, including the introduction of a new locale, the unveiling of formidable monsters, and details on the upcoming open beta test.

The trailer introduces players to Iceshard Cliffs, a breathtaking and treacherous environment marked by its icy landscapes and swirling snow blizzards. This area boasts unique environmental features that will challenge hunters in new ways. Among the various creatures inhabiting the Iceshard Cliffs are the Hirabami, a leviathan species new to the Monster Hunter universe, and the Nerscylla, a returning Temnoceran that will be familiar to long-time fans of the series.

The trailer teases viewers with a scene featuring a mysterious large monster launching a fierce attack on a group of Hirabami, setting the stage for what promises to be captivating encounters. The flagship monster of Monster Hunter Wilds, Arkveld, also makes a grand entrance in the trailer. Arkveld is characterized by its unique chain-like appendages, and the trailer showcases its brutal clash with Rey Dau, the apex predator of the Windward Plains, hinting at the epic battles that await players.

Alongside the trailer release, developers have announced the second open beta test (OBT2) for Monster Hunter Wilds, scheduled to take place over two sessions from February 6-9 and February 13-16, 2025. OBT2 will give players a chance to delve into the game with features like Character Creation, a Story Trial, and opportunities to hunt monsters such as Doshaguma and Gypceros. For skilled hunters seeking a greater challenge, Arkveld will be available as part of an advanced quest.

The official release of Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for February 28, 2025. Players who have pre-ordered the game will have the advantage of pre-loading the game 48 hours before its release. Notably, the game will support PS5 Pro with a day 1 patch, although these enhanced features will not be part of OBT2.
