Generally when you think of pixel art you will think of someone taking a bunch of square blocks and making some sort of low res image from it, well someone has gone and taken this to a whole new level! At first it doesn’t event look like this is pixel art, but when he zooms in you really get to see how detailed this picture really is.
If you are unfamiliar with how pixels work, all images on a screen are made from pixels, they are just so small that it doesn’t look blocky. If you try to make a circle with 10 squares it will be blocky, but if you cut those 10 squares into 1000 pieces the circle will be a lot more detailed. This is what has been done here, but rather than cut the size of the blocks, the player is just “zoomed out” from the source which makes it difficult to actually make out the individual blocks.
I can only imagine the amount of time it took to make something like this. Having to constantly go back to check what it looked like from a distance and even the simple task of placing the blocks is a big one when you have over 1 million to place. Check out the video below to see the full picture.
