How To Take Apart A Dualshock 3

Taking apart a Dualshock 3 is relatively simple, but putting it back together is not to simple. If you have a broken button or have smashed the controller off the ground in anger and need to repair it. This guide will show you how to take apart a Dualshock 3 controller in order to repair any damage or replace broken components.

The components inside the Dualshock 3 are quite tough, it is difficult to break it by being too rough, but it is possible to break the plastic components that hold the screws and keep the controller together. If you are too rough when taking apart the screws you could break the screw holes. This will not break the controller, but it makes it very uncomfortable to hold.

Take your time taking this apart and keep all of the pieces on a white piece of cloth so you do not lose them. There are 2 springs behind the L2 and R2 trigger buttons. These fall off when you are taking the controller apart and are very easy to lose. The trigger buttons do not work correctly when these springs are missing so be very careful not to drop them.
