How To Use PS Move Controllers With the PSVR

ps move controllers with the psvr

If you have just purchased a PSVR or the PS Move controllers, you might not immediately figure out how they work. The PlayStation doesn’t do a great job at explaining it. This is why I have put together this quick tutorial that will expain how to use the Ps Move controllers with the PSVR.

    Navigating The PS4 Menu

This is probably the first issue most people are going to come across. You no longer have a dpad or an analogue stick, so how are you meant to move left and right in the PS4 menu while using the PlayStation Move controllers? It is actually quite easy. All you need to do is hold down the trigger button on the back of one of the move controllers and swipe the move controller in the direction that you want to move. This method of navigation is used for most games as well so this is something that is very good to know as you will need to use it quite often.

    How To Pause The Game

Not all games have a pause menu, so it is worth knowing this first of all. The move controllers have 2 buttons on either side of the main controller. To the right side of the triangle and circle button, you will find a button that is flush with the side of the controller. It can be hard to see, but this is the “options” button that will allow you to pause the game and do what you would normally need to do. Most games also pause the game automatically when you press the PS button so this can also be a handy way to pause the game if you find pressing the standard pause button a little clunky.

    How To Take Screenshots

Playing a game with move controllers is the best way to play, but if you are needing to pick up the Dualshock 4 in order to take a screenshot it is going to get a little annoying. Just like the start button, there is also a select/share button on the main Move controller. If you look to the left of the square and cross button you will find another button that is flush with the side of the controller. This is the Move equivalent of the share button and it will allow you to take screenshots/video recordings while playing a game.

    How To Recenter The Screen

It is easy to get carried away when playing and eventually you will fall out of position with the screen and things will become off-center. You can recenter it by holding down the options/start button on the move controller. You can find this button on the right side of the controller next to the triangle and circle button.

Connecting A Move Controller to The PS4

Using a USB cable, connect the move controller to the PS4 using the USB connection at the bottom of the move controller. Once connected, the red light at the bottom will begin to flash to indicate that it is charging. Press the PS button on the controller and wait for the flashing light to turn solid. This means the controller is now connected and you can remove the USB cable to begin playing with it wirelessly.
