100% Automated Wheat Flour Farm

Growing wheat is one of the more boring elements of Craftopa. Getting water, gathering wheat, putting it into the cooking pot. It is all very slow and tedious for a fairly low yield of output. Thankfully, the games automation tools will allow you to build a fully automated grain farm that will produce an infinite amount of wheat flour. Chain this farm up with some additional components to create a fully automated bioethanol farm.

This guide will show you how to very easily make a simple wheat flour farm that is 100% automated and requires no input at all for you to get a chest full of wheat flour.

Fully Automated Wheat Flour Farm

To create this farm, you will need to create the following items with the quantities listed. If you want to create a bigger farm, you can add to some of the farm plots and the relevant items that would extend the size of the farm. Making this bigger will cost you very little effort. It is just a matter of making it as big as you might need.

  • 10 Wheat Plots
  • 14 Flat Conveyor Belts
  • 5 Absorbers
  • 1 chest
  • 24 wooden arches
  • 2 sprinklers
  • 1 Automated chopper
  • 2 droppers

1 – Create A Flat Surface To Build the Farm On

To get started, you are going to need a flat surface to work on. This will not work if you build it on the side of a hill as the blades that harvest the grown grain will end up breaking the farm plots.

You can use any material, but I would suggest using stone as it is easy to set up an infinite stone mining farm, making this less of an issue compared to dealing with wood.

2 – Setup Farm Plots, Sprinkler With Conveyors Around The Outside

Setup a line of farm plots that are 2 x 5. If you decided to make a bigger farm, you can go on into infinity so long as you keep it 2 plots wide.

By surrounding the farm area with conveyor belts, you can control where the wheat ends up after it is harvested.

Once the wheat fields are down, build conveyor belts around the outside of them. You can’t place a conveyor on top of a floor so you will need to delete any floors that you have placed if you have placed them.

Sprinklers are able to water a large area of wheat farms. Place two of the sprinklers in the farm plots, 2.5 blocks into each side of the farm to ensure that they are all watered. Unlike other structures, the spinning saw will not damage the sprinklers so they do not have to be hidden in a clever way.

3 – Surround Farm with Walls And Place Absorbers

Absorbers have a pretty good range, they can normally go 2 blocks wide and 2 blocks out. This means you should be able to build this with only using 3 absorbers, but using 4 will make it more reliable to ensure you get as many pieces of grain as possible pulled over to the conveyor belts.

The walls are important than stopping the grain from falling off the edge and getting lost. As before, using stone is the best as it is easily renewable.

4 – Place Wood Arches Around Plots

The mowing machine to cut the grain has a mind of its own. It very easily jumps over walls and will end up getting lost or stuck. Placing a stack of arches 2 blocks high around the wheat plots will ensure that the cutter cant escape but because the arches are more of a frame, the wheat can still be sucked onto the conveyor belts and brought around to your chest.

5 – Collecting the Wheat

There is a conveyor chest that can be linked to a conveyor belt but from the testing I have done with this, it doesn’t work correctly at the moment. This is sure to be fixed in the future so you could try using a conveyor chest to make this solution much cleaner.

I had hoped it would be possible to use this automated conveyor chest but it appears to be bugged at the moment and does not allow the direct connection to the cooking pots. For now, you will need to use a regular chest

For now, you will need to use a regular chest with an absorber on it to suck in the wheat that makes its way around. This will result in you having a chest full of grain. Now, all we need to do is link this up to some cooking pots to turn into wheat flour.

6 – Automatically Creating Wheat Flour

Using a craft connector you can link your chest contents with a structure that creates a particular item. In this case, we want to connect the chest to a cooking pot. Select the craft connector and stick it to the side of the chest. You should check out the guide to using connectors if you are having issues with this.

The laser from the craft connector will automatically link itself with the cooking pot. All you need to do now is to interact with the cooking pot and select which resource you want to set to auto-generate and you are good to go.

7 – Storing The Wheat Flour

The final step should be fairly clear at this point. You will need to get the cooked wheat flour from the cooking pot and send it over to a chest. Unfortunately, the super handy craft connector that we used to link the chest with the cooking pot does not work the other way around. At least not yet anyway. So you will need to use the dropper and absorber to make this happen.

Create a dropper and apply it to the cooking pot. Each time a piece of wheat flour is cooked, it will shoot out in the direction you have positioned the absorber. You will need to place a chest nearby with an absorber on it and ensure the range of the absorber can pull in the items that are blown from the cooker.
