E3 Announcements That Could Save Nintendo

E3 Announcements That Could Save Nintendo

It’s no secret that the Wii U has had a shaky start in life. Mario Kart 8 is sure to have provided a boost in sales but it isn’t quite what Nintendo need to bring the Wii U up to pace with the Xbox One and PS4. With 5 months left until the holiday season and with E3 just around the corner, there is a big opening for Nintendo to pull a rabbit out of a hat. So the question is, what are some of the E3 announcements that could save Nintendo and turn things around.

Exclusive Titles

The first thing that everyone will agree on is more exclusive titles. This is important but it’s also guaranteed with Nintendo. In the past Nintendo have been great at releasing 1st party exclusive games for their consoles. People might complain that there is too much Mario but the average review scores are constantly high, so who cares? 3rd party exclusives help consoles a lot but at this stage the best we can ask for is better 3rd party support.

If EA or even Rockstar were to announce some major titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5 being ported to the Wii U console it will definitely make the console more appealing. As of now the Wii U cant compete with PS4 and Xbox One as the multi platform games are not being released for the system.

In order to build some big hype after the event it would help if there were an announcement of a new Metroid game and a new Zelda game. We have seen videos for the hack and slash Zelda game that’s in the works but this is not a real Zelda game and isn’t going to build the hype like a HD remake of Ocarina of Time or a completely new title.

Price Drop

Price is a huge factor when it comes to games consoles this generation. Not many people can afford more than one console so when deciding which one to buy people will generally go for the Playstation or Xbox due to a larger install base and better software support. If the Wii U was significantly cheaper than the competition it would allow gamers to purchase a Wii U along with a PS4 or XB1.

Achievement System

People hate this suggestion but there is no denying that having system level award system for games is a great way to build a stronger community. Call of Duty has proven that collecting awards and levelling up is highly addictive for most gamers. If you could compare achievements with other Wii U users it would be a great way to help build up a stronger community.

Pokemon MMO

While this falls under an exclusive game it would be such a big deal that it alone could turn things for Nintendo. If Nintendo’s console had exclusive access to a huge online world of Pokemon it would be a major selling point for the console. Now that Nintendo have a console that has reasonable online capabilities and better hardware to support this it makes this a possibility. Pokemon games are some of the best selling games for Nintendo’s hand-held consoles. Bringing this popularity to a large HD screen and then allowing you to go online and team up with your friends would be amazing! DLC and regular content updates would keep this game alive for the entire lifespan of the console.
