Remote play is a feature that allows a user to remotely connect to the Playstation 4 system to play games or interact with the system. It is similar to how the remote desktop system works on PC. Remote play was first implemented with the PS3 and the PSP, but it was poorly implemented. The PS4 now has this feature built into the operating system and it allows you to connect to the Playstation 4 console using a device that supports the feature, such as the Playstation Vita, PC, MAC or PS TV.
To connect to the PS4 using remote play, load up the remote play app and use it to search for nearby systems. The first time you connect you will see a code presented on the screen of the system you are trying to connect to. This will pair the app with the console, preventing unauthorized access. Once this one time setup is complete, you will be able to connect to the PS4 at any time, so long as it remains connected to the network.
PS4 Remote Play Using A PC or Laptop
Remote play support is built into the Vita and PS TV systems already which makes it quite easy to setup. It is also possible to connect to a PS4 for remote play access using a laptop or desktop computer that is running Windows or Mac. In order to access the remote play feature, you must download the official app and install it on your system. Once it is installed it will give you the same access you have from the Vita. You can download the app from the official Sony website. https://remoteplay.dl.playstation.net/remoteplay/lang/en/index.html
