Aloy is a woman with a fairly small frame, but somehow she is able to carry a truck load of supplies. Some people hate this, but when you play the game, you will not care one bit. Your inventory becomes one of the things you will focus on a lot while playing Horizon Zero Dawn. The inventory is not that complicated, so I wont waste time explaining it. I will however give some advice on how to best manage it.
All items you pick up will have a rarity rank. The vast majority of these items will be white which means they are common items. There are times when the background color will be different. You will likely notice this when you first visit a shop and find an item that has a green or blue background. This color coding will be familiar to anyone who has played other RPGs. Here is what it means.
- White = Common
- Green = Uncommon
- Blue = Rare
- Purple = Very Rare
When you are running around, you will notice that there are a lot of diamond shaped icons. These are all items that you can scavenge. You will need to do this a lot. Never miss the chance to grab some good loot.
Why are some scavenge drops a different color?
This is a good question and it is actually a really beneficial mechanic. Lets say you kill a boar and the scavenge marker is white. This means that there are only uncommon items in this drop. If you are looking for a rare item, it saves you having to loot items you don’t need. The color of the scavenge marker will follow the inventory rarity index above.
Aloys carry capacity in Horizon Zero Dawn is quite large by default, but it does have limitations. You can however alter this limitation. See the sub category to this section that goes into detail on increasing your inventory carry capacity.
